
The District XI AAA Championships wrapped up this past week at Whitehall High School
A total of 23 Emmaus athletes competing in 12 events will be heading to the PIAA State Championships on May 23 and 24 at Seth Grove Stadium at Shippensburg University.
Two more school records were broken at the district meet, totaling seven for the season.
In the girl’s competition, junior Madalyn McCartney won the district championship in the 1600m run in a time of 4:53.13 smashing the school record.
Junior Claudia Walls also set a school record in the triple jump (37-3) and won the district title in the high jump with a mark of 5-5.
Senior Payton Campbell will also be heading to states in the 3200m along with classmate Kayla-Rayne Quinones in the 100m hurdles.
The girls 4x100m relay of senior Morgan Tandy, junior Gabby DeVita, sophomore Sophia Pratt and Quinones has also qualified for states.
On the boy’s side, senior Jared Petre won the district championship with a time of 1:56.88 in the 800m run and was also part of the first place 4x800m relay team along with teammates seniors Conor Fisher, Miles Cook and Richard Will.
The 4x100m relay of juniors Kai Jefferson-Rushing and Nicholi Marsh along with seniors Dorrian McCargo and Michael Milot will also be heading to states along with the 4x400m relay of Will, Cook, Petre and junior Rien George.
In the field events, senior Tyler Grabinski will also be heading to states in the pole vault after finishing second with a 14-9 mark.
