“Trying to stay positive about the season starting again.” That’s been one of the challenges says Tatum Kresley during these uncertain times. Our Q & A with the Hornets softball senior

Editor’s Note: Over the next weeks and months, Emmaussports.com will be spotlighting senior spring sports student-athletes at Emmaus High School who have had their final athletic year sidelined due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Today we spotlight the lone senior on the girls softball team, outfielder/pitcher Tatum Kresley (TK) with our Q and A session:

Q: How are you coping during these difficult and uncertain times with the Covid-19 pandemic?

TK: I am spending time with my family and my little nephew, Kyfer, trying to stay as safe as possible. Thankfully, I have family to throw with and online hitting and workout instruction.

Q: What’s been the biggest challenge for you day in and day out?

TK: Trying to stay positive about the season starting again. April 30 would be more than halfway through the season, so what am I doing at home is trying to get prepared for the season, if it happens.

Q: What are you doing to keep busy?

TK: I throw outside almost every day with my sister and hit on a tee in my backyard by myself. I also have a workout group and get hitting instruction by my college coach through videos.

Q: How much hope do you still have that there will be a spring sports season?

TK: Enough hope to be thinking about the crazy schedule that’s to come if we do get on the field. Doubleheaders, tournaments for the EPC’s and districts. Who knows what’s to come.

Q; How will you feel if the spring sports season gets cancelled?

TK: I am very lucky to have softball after high school, and I am also lucky enough to be the only senior. I am thankful my juniors will get another chance. If this happens, I am more than thankful for all the fun and memories they gave me here at Emmaus.

Q: What will be your favorite memory from your high school sports career if the season gets cancelled?

TK: Our game against Nazareth last year when I made a diving catch in left field. Beating Parkland was also one of our hardest-fought team wins.

Q: What are you future plans after high school? If college, what school have you committed to and do you plan on playing sports and what will be your major?

TK: I will be playing Division 1 softball at Rider University in Lawrenceville, NJ. I will be studying Elementary Education.

Q: What’s the best advice you can give to your underclassmen?

TK: You do not know what you have until it’s gone, be honest and kind and treat people how you want to be treated.
