RECAP >> Emmaus opened up its Eastern Pennsylvania Conference schedule last night by going on the road and defeating Pocono Mountain East 58-17. The victory was the first for new head coach Jim Best.
The Hornets (1-0) won 10 of the 13 matches, including six by fall.
Seniors Marco Albanese (145), Jake Gross (215), EJ Boney (285), sophomore Reilly Bechtel (172) and freshman Logan Armstrong (133) all earned pins. Sophomore Phoenix Zatar-Hanson, in his first varsity match, also earned a fall at 189.
The loss dropped Pocono Mountain East to 3-3 on the season.
Emmaus will return to action on Saturday as they travel to Pottsville for the Case-Flynn Duals. The Hornets will take on Tunkhannock at 9 a.m., followed by Cedar Cliff at 10:30 a.m. and Belmont Charter at Noon. The playoffs get underway at 1:30 p.m.
