RECAP >> Emmaus celebrated both its Alumni Night and and its newest inductee into its Wall of Fame last night at ‘The Hive’ by rolling to a 51-12 rout of Pocono Mountain West.
The Hornets won 10 of the 13 bouts, including seven by fall as they evened their league mark in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference at 2-2.
Senior Jake Gross picked up his team-leading 16th win of the season in the feature bout of the night at 215 with a first-period pin of junior Brandon Stiehler who came in 12-1 on the season.
Fellow senior Marco Albanese, fresh off an impressive runner-up finish at the Hurricane Invitational at Liberty High School over the holidays, improved to 14-6 with a pin in 1:32 over Panthers junior Franklin Van Houten at 145.
Emmaus’ other pins on the night came from freshmen Jackson Max (107), Aiden Bayard (114) and Logan Armstrong (127), sophomore Jesse Scott (152) and senior Lord Henry (172).
Pocono Mountain West three wins came from sophomore Imeen Whitaker (133) and seniors Ronald Davis (189) and Malachi Walters (285).
Prior to the match, Emmaus honored its former alumni and also introduced its newest member into its Wall of Fame, former head coach Thad Smith who led the program for the last four years.
Emmaus will return to the mat on Thursday at 7 p.m. as they travel to East Stroudsburg North before returning home next Wednesday, January 11 at 7 p.m. to host Liberty. The match with the Hurricane will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pennsylvania Sports Network.
