Wrestling – Hornets jump out to big early lead, defeat rival Parkland for the second time in dominating 42-16 win.

RECAP >> Emmaus won six of the first seven bouts and raced out to a 27-3 lead at rival Parkland on Friday night as the Hornets defeated the Trojans for the second time in less than a week in a dominating 42-16 dual meet.

The Hornets won nine of the 13 bouts, scored bonus point in six matches as they remained unbeaten on the season at 5-0. They also defeated Parkland for the third straight time.

Sophomore Marco Albanese (120), junior Braulio Hurtado (138), sophomore Evan Camire (145), junior Quin Scott (160) and seniors Connor Carter (285) and Gio Lainez (113) all remained unbeaten on the season with wins.

Senior Kordell Waiters (152) and junior Trevor Gitski (215) both improved to 4-1 with falls, while junior Nick Velde (132) improved to 3-1 on the season with a technical fall.

Emmaus will be back in action on Monday at 7 p.m. as they travel to Nazareth.
