District 11 has announced its matchups for the upcoming Class 3A individual tournament that will be held this weekend – Saturday and Sunday – at Parkland High School.
Eleven (11) Emmaus wrestlers will compete led by senior Kordell Waiters who received the highest seed, No.2, at 152 pounds. Junior Nick Velde was also awarded a top seed, No. 4 at 132, while teammates senior Gio Lainez (113), sophomore Marco Albanese (120), sophomore Evan Camire (145), junior Quin Scott (160) and senior Connor Carter (285) all received No. 5 seeds in their respective weight classes.
Action will get underway Saturday with two sessions — the top part of the bracket (No. 1 seed vs No. 16 seed, No. 8 vs No. 9, No. 4 vs No. 13 and No. 5 vs No. 12) will begin the preliminary round at 11 am followed by the quarterfinals and 1st round consolations (Noon) and second round consys (1:45 pm).
The second session – bottom bracket (#2 vs #15, #3 vs #14, #6 vs #11, #7 vs #10 – will start with the prelims at 4 p.m. Saturday followed by the quarterfinals and 1st round consys (5 p.m.) and second round consys (6:45 pm).
Sunday’s action will begin with the semifinals and consolation quarterfinals at 12:30 p.m. followed by the consolation semifinals (2:30 p.m.). The championship finals and consolation finals are scheduled for 3:30 p.m. with the true second (if necessary) set for 5:30 p.m.
Only the top three in each weight class will advance to the Northeast Regional Tournament on Saturday, February 27 at the Charles Chrin Community Center.
