The Emmaus baseball team didn’t have to look too far in its search for a new head coach.
Jeremy Haas, who has served as an assistant at Emmaus for the past four years, will reportedly been named the program’s new manager pending the next school board meeting on January 14, 2019.
Haas, 30, is a 2007 graduate of Southern Lehigh High School where he was a four-year player. Following graduation, he continued his career at George Mason University where he was a two-year starter.
Prior to coming to Emmaus, Haas served as the outfield and hitting coach at Southern Lehigh for three years. He also was the head JV coach.
Haas takes over for Mike Mihalik who stepped down in August to become the Supervisor of Secondary Curriculum (STEM) at Emmaus.
In his four years as head coach at Emmaus, Mihalik compiled a 55-31 record and his teams have qualified for both the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference and District XI playoffs all four years.
Last spring, the Hornets finished 16-6 overall, falling to Pocono Mountain East 16-6 in the District XI quarterfinals.
