Competing in its first tournament of the season, Emmaus placed six individual champions and ran away with the team title on Saturday at the 1st Annual Kutztown Invitational at Kutztown High School.
Head coach Thad Smith’s team had all 14 of its wrestlers place as the Hornets tallied 249 points, outdistancing themselves from second place Lehighton (180.50).
Sophomore Cade Speicher (106), freshmen Nick Velde (120) and Quin Scott (126), sophomore Kordell Waiters (132), senior Jackson Karrat (138) and junior Caden Wright (170) all took home individual titles.
Two other Hornets – freshman Jared Groller (152) and senior Liam Dottery (195) – finished runner-up in their respective weight classes, while five others – senior James Bowie (113), freshman Jack Brion (145), junior Conner Carter (182), senior Luigi Mannino (220) and junior James Santichen (285) – finished third.
In the team race, Harrisburg finished third (176 points) followed by Conrad Weiser (fourth, 152), Twin Valley (fifth, 121), Kutztown (sixth, 98.5), Northern Lebanon (seventh, 87.5) and Executive Education Academy (eighth, 21).
