RECAP >> Pitcher Ross Braxmeier had his second consecutive strong outing of the season on the mound Tuesday night at Community Park as Emmaus jumped on visiting Salisbury early in winning 7-5 in Lehigh Valley Legion action.
Braxmeier tossed six strong innings as he improved to 2-0 on the season. He gave up four runs on six hits and struck out four as Emmaus snapped its two-game losing streak and evening its overall mark at 2-2.
Emmaus waisted little time on jumping on Salisbury as they scored four runs in the bottom of the first inning and then added three more in the third off starter Tim Schware who lasted just 2 1/3 innings.
Salisbury, which suffered its first loss of the season (2-1-1), didn’t help its own cause in this one as they committed six errors.
Seven of the nine Emmaus starters had at least one hit in the victory. Shortstop Matt Madigan went 1-for-2 with an RBI and two walks, right fielder Brendon Ward and second baseman Colin Schaffer each went 1-for-3 and drove in a run, left fielder Zane Cook had two RBI and third baseman Jimmy Braxmeier scored two runs.
Salisbury’s Mark Wilson was the only player in the game with multiple hits going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Teammate shortstop Quinn Warmkessel was 1-for-2 with an RBI.
Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 6 p.m. as they travel to Parkland High School to take on two-time defending league champion South Parkland.
