Fitness – Emmaus boys win silver, girls bronze at US Marine National Meet

The Emmaus boys and girls fitness teams once again showed their dominance as one of the top programs in the country after an outstanding effort at the United States Marine National Fitness competition held on May 18 at Fort Indiantown Gap in Annville, Pa.

Coach Andy Corch’s boys squad finished runner-up for the second consecutive year and captured the silver medals, while the girls squad led by coach Lenni Maguire took home the bronze after finishing third.

The boys accumulated 2,216 points, finishing only behind South Bronx High School, NY which took first place (2,380 points).

Individually, junior Klay Koehler was Emmaus’ highest-placewinner finishing third overall, while classmate Dylan Butz was sixth.

The other boys members include: Anthony Cino, Luke Wilson, Nai Ri Lin and Harry Lin.

The girls team totaled 1,417 points and trailed only Bethpage High School, NY who took first with 1,687 points and Penn Hills High School from western Pennsylvania

Bri Young was Emmaus’ highest placewinner finishing ninth overall.

Meghan Johnson, Heather Galio, Tess Adams, Sydney Loeper and Sonia Abolik also competed at the national meet.

This was the 33rd year of competition for the girls team, while the 49th for the boys. Longtime head coach George Gibbs coached both squads before retiring last season.
