The Lower Macungie baseball team will open up play this week as another exciting season of Lehigh Valley Legion action gets underway.
Head coach Jeff Smith’s team will host Northern Valley in their season-opener today at Church Lane Park and then have a pair of road games on Wednesday at Allentown and Thursday at Salisbury. Start time 6 p.m. for all games.
Lower Mac is coming off of a solid 13-6-1 season where they reached the league finals for the first time since 2015. In the championship game, Lower Mac fell to rival North Parkland 3-2.
The Lehigh Valley Legion league is made up of eight teams – Lower Mac, North and South Parkland, Northern Valley, Carbon, Salisbury, Southern Lehigh and Allentown. All eight will qualify for the playoffs which get underway on July 5. The regular-season and playoff champ will advance to regionals. There will also be an all-star game on June 17 at 7 p.m. at Emmaus Community Park between Lehigh Valley and NORCO League.
