Boys Basketball – Ross scores career-high 26 points as Hornets use big second half to cruise to 78-57 win over Dieruff.

Behind a career-high 26-point effort from junior Jacob Ross, Emmaus used a big second half to pull away for a 78-57 road win on Thursday night at Dieruff.

Trailing by one at the break, Emmaus outscored the Huskies 42-20 in the second half, including a 24-7 advantage in the third quarter, as they picked up their fourth win in their last six games.

The victory improved the Hornets overall mark to 4-6 on the season and 3-4 in the EPC, while Dieruff fell to 5-4 and 2-4 in the league.

Ross, whose previous career-high was 21 points in a victory over Quakertown last Saturday, did most of his damage in the second half scoring 18 points despite being in foul trouble. The 78 points matches the most Emmaus has scored in a game this season.

In the victory, junior Lucas Stephan also had a big night with 19 points, including 14 in the first half, while sophomore Ben Grochowski came off the bench and added a career-high nine points.

Dieruff was led by senior Alphy Deris who matched Ross with a game-high 26 points.

Emmaus will close out the week on Saturday at 3 p.m. as they travel up Cedar Crest Boulevard to take on rival Parkland.
