Boys Soccer – Kieber-Emmons and Barrett score goals as Hornets open up season with 2-0 win over Cumberland Valley.

At Memorial Field on Friday afternoon, Emmaus used a pair of second half goals to defeat District 3’s Cumberland Valley 2-0 in the season opener for both teams.

Two new players to the squad scored their first career varsity goals in leading head coach John Cari’s team to the victory.

Juniors Xavier Kieber-Emmons and London Barrett each scored after halftime as Emmaus defeated Cumberland Valley for the third straight season.

Kieber-Emmons scored with 23:54 showing on the clock to give Emmaus a 1-0 lead and then 12 minutes later, Barrett scored an insurance goal – off an assist from junior Caeden Thornton – to close out the scoring.

In the match, Emmaus outshot Cumberland Valley 5-0 with the Hornets doubling up the Eagles 6-3 in corners. In goal, sophomore Chase Evans picked up his first career varsity win.

The Hornets will return to action on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. as they host Pocono Mountain East in their EPC opener.
