Boys Tennis – Hornets drop first match of the season, falling to defending District XI champ Liberty 6-1

3/14/19

The Emmaus boys tennis squad suffered its first loss of the season on Wednesday afternoon in Bethlehem as the Hornets fell to Liberty 6-1.

The Hurricane, the defending District XI team champions, won two of the three singles matches and swept all four doubles as they improved to 2-0 on the young season.

Emmaus, which was coming off a 6-1 season-opening win over Allen on Tuesday, dropped to 1-1 following the loss.

Sophomore standout Sean Jaeger, the team’s No.1 singles player, registered his team’s only point of the match as he defeated Louis Gruber in straight sets 6-0, 6-2.

The Hornets will look to get back on track Friday at 3:30 p.m. as they travel to Bethlehem Catholic.
