Boys Volleyball – Hornets win third Red Rover Invitational Tournament in last six years defeating Haverford in the finals

RECAP >> After finishing runner-up a year ago, the Emmaus boys volleyball team went one step further this past weekend as they captured the championship of the 15-team Red Rover Invitational boys volleyball tournament held at Easton Area Middle School.

Head coach Jeff Elsea’s squad dropped just one set the entire day as they defeated Haverford from the Central League 2-1 (25-17, 22-25, 15-12) in the finals. It was the third title in the last three years for the Hornets who also won back in 2017 and 2018.

Emmaus had advanced to the championship round after defeating EPC foe Liberty 25-12 and 25-19 in the semfinals.

In pool play, the Hornets defeated Suburban One’s North Penn (25-13, 25-17), District 2’s Lake Lehman (25-16, 25-19), Suburban One’s Central Bucks South (25-16, 25-19) and non-league foe Solehi (25-12, 25-19).

Emmaus junior setter Cooper Henseler was named to all-tournament team along with Stefan Bilc (Haverford), Nathan Knapp (Pennsbury), Chris Mellor (Easton), Adam Mittl (Liberty) and Trey West (Solehi).

The Hornets will return to Easton High School at 5 p.m. on Tuesday as they face the Red Rovers in EPC action.
