Girls Basketball – Hornets woes continue as they drop ninth straight game in low-scoring 33-27 loss at Whitehall

RECAP – The struggles for the Emmaus girls basketball team continued on Tuesday night at Whitehall as the Hornets dropped their ninth straight game falling to the Zephyrs 33-27.

The defeat keeps Emmaus winless in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference at 0-11 and their overall record dips to 2-15 on the season. Whitehall, meanwhile, improved to 4-7 in the league and 5-11 overall.

Emmaus led 8-5 after the first quarter, but the Zephyrs took charge after that as they outscored the Hornets 18-8 in the middle quarters before eventually hanging on for a six-point win.

The Hornets were led in scoring by sophomore Gabrielle Martin who had a team-high nine points.

Whitehall, which is coached by former Emmaus assistant Josh Madas, was paced by junior Grace Clary’s 12 points.

Emmaus will return to the hardwood on Friday at 7 p.m. with another difficult test traveling to Northampton to take on the K-Kids.
