Girls Lacrosse – Hornets use balanced scoring attack, big second half to defeat Spring-Ford 10-2 in season opener

RECAP >> Emmaus used a balanced scoring attack with seven different players scoring goals as the Hornets opened their season Saturday morning at Memorial Field with a 10-2 win against Pioneer Athletic Conference foe Spring-Ford.

Emmaus broke away from a tight two-goal game at intermission (4-2) by outscoring the Rams 6-0 in the second half.

Senior Julia Cote led Emmaus with a hat trick, while junior Emily Hollinger scored a pair of goals. Sophomore Bri McClain and Melea Weber each added a goal and an assist. In goal, sophomore Alani Shotwell picked up the win making six saves.

Spring-Ford got goals from senior Alyssa Mozi and sophomore Gianna DiBattista. Sophomore goalie llyana Jones made six stops.

Emmaus will return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday as they travel to Nazareth for their Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener.
