Girls Soccer – Evans and Bender score a pair of goals as Hornets rout PME in EPC opener 8-0

Emmaus had an easy time in its Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener on Tuesday afternoon in Swiftwater as the Hornets rolled to an 8-0 win over Pocono Mountain East.

Five different players scored goals in the match which was stopped with 11 minutes left in the second half due to the weather.

Freshman Brooke Evans scored a pair of goals and assisted on a third, while teammate senior Lizzy Bender also tallied two goals to lead head coach Chris Hain’s squad (2-0).

Senior Giuliana Meyer and freshman Dempsey Hochbein also found the back of the net. Junior Cecelia Albeck had a game-high two assists. In goal, freshman Morgan Betz and sophomore Zoe Reppert combined on the shutout.

Emmaus will return to the pitch on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. as they host rival Central Catholic (2-0) in a key early season matchup.
