At Memorial Field on Wednesday night, it didn’t take long for Emmaus to get the scoring started in their District XI 4A quarterfinal round matchup against Whitehall.

Less than four minutes into the match, sophomore Koli Esterly scored the first of her team’s six goals and the Hornets were off and running as they defeated the Zephyrs 6-0.

Emmaus, which was coming off just their second loss of the season in last Saturday’s EPC championship game against Nazareth, scored three goals in each half as they beat Whitehall for the third time this season. In the three matches, the Hornets outscored the Zephyrs 16-0.

With the victory, head coach Chris Hain’s squad improves to 19-2-1 on the season and advances to the semifinals on November 3 to face Parkland, which outlasted Northampton 1-0 in overtime. The two rivals will be meeting for the third time this season with a berth in the district final on the line as well as a spot in the PIAA State Tournament.

Senior Giuliana Meyer scored a pair of goals (her 22nd and 23rd on the season), junior Cecilia Albeck also added two scores (Nos. 19th and 20th) and senior Lizzie Bender dished out three assists for the Hornets. Freshman Hayden Taucher also figured into the scoring with her second goal on the year.

Emmaus not only dominated on the scoreboard but statistically outshooting Whitehall 16-1. Sophomore goalie Zoe Reppert (1 save) and freshman Morgan Betz (0 saves) combined on the shutout. Cora Musselman had 10 saves for Whitehall, which ended its season at 10-7-3 overall.
