It may have only been a non-league match, but in the District XI Class 3A Class it may prove large for head coach Pat Birns’ squad as the Hornets went on the road on Monday afternoon and knocked off previously unbeaten Blue Mountain 367-399 at Schuylkill Country Club.

Emmaus had five golfers shoot in the 70s with three recording their lowest rounds of the season. The 367-team score was a season low.

As he’s done all season, senior Evan Walters V once again earned top medalist honors as he fired a 1-under 71. Freshman Jake Socci (72) and junior Greyson Schmidt (73) both fired their lowest rounds of the season while another junior, Anderson Francis, tied for his season low with a 74. Senior Ben Nichols was fifth with a 77.

The victory improved Emmaus’ overall record to 10-2 on the season and puts them just outside the top four in the rankings, trailing No. 1 Parkland (11-1), No. 2 Solehi (8-1), No. 3 Blue Mountain (7-1) and No. 4 Nazareth (9-2)

The Hornets will be back in action on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. as they host East Stroudsburg South (1-8).
