The annual battle of Cedar Crest Boulevard between rivals Emmaus and Parkland resulted in a similar result on Wednesday night at Parkland High School as both games ended up in a 1-1 draw.
In the first game of the doubleheader, head coach Chris Hain’s girls’ squad, which has just yielded three goals in 17 games, found themselves in an unfamiliar position trailing as Parkland took a 1-0 lead midway through the second half on junior Mackenzie McNeely’s goal off a corner kick.
But Emmaus was able to respond and find the equalizer eight minutes later as junior Cecilia Albeck found the back with her team-leading 17th goal of the season to tying the game at 1-1.
Statistically, the Hornets outshot the Trojans 12-4 in the game. In goal, sophomore Zoe Reppert made three saves for Emmaus.
Emmaus wraps up another outstanding regular season with just one loss in league play for the second consecutive year (14-1-1). Up next will be the league tournament. The Hornets (16-1-1 overall) will host a first-round game on Tuesday at 5 p.m. against Whitehall. The two teams played on Monday of this week with Emmaus posting a 4-0 win at Whitehall.
In the nightcap, head coach John Cari’s squad, which entered play allowing just a pair of goals on the season, also were in a precarious situation trailing 1-0 in the second half after Parkland’s Salah Khdour gave the Trojans a 1-0 lead in the 51st minute.
Emmaus, which was looking to complete its first undefeated season in league play since 2023, however had the response just three minutes later as junior London Barrett took a pass from teammate Caleb Brown and buried a shot past goalie Matt Feiller for his fifth goal of the season tying the game. The result marked the first time since the 2021 season that the two rivals played to a draw.
With the result, Emmaus wraps up the regular season in the EPC unbeaten with a 15-0-2 mark and 16-0-2 overall.
On the stat sheet, neither team generated many shots on goal — Emmaus 3, Parkland 2. The Hornets held the edge in corners, 7-4.
The two-time defending EPC champs will now prepare for a run at a third straight title when the league tournament gets underway next Tuesday at 7 p.m. at Memorial Field against Nazareth. The two teams met a week ago with Emmaus rolling to a 4-0 win.
