Emmaus 0, Freedom 0 (Boys)
At Memorial Field on Monday night, it was a rematch of last year’s Eastern Pennsylvania Conference championship game as the Hornets hosted Freedom.
Emmaus, which had defeated the Patriots 1-0 with a late goal in the 77th minute of last year’s league final, did not come out on top in last night’s game but neither did Freedom as both teams settled for a scoreless draw. The two squads also played to a tie (1-1) a year ago in their regular-season matchup.
The result marked the first time this season that head coach John Cari’s team (6-0-1 EPC/7-0-1) was held scoreless in a game.
Neither side had many scoring chances in the match with the visitors outshooting the hosts 2-1. Hornets sophomore goalie Chase Evans stopped both shots he faced.
Emmaus will return to action on Wednesday at 4 p.m. as they travel to East Stroudsburg South.

At Freedom last night, the scoring came early and often for the Hornets as they remained unbeaten on the season.
Emmaus, which entered play with a perfect 8-0 record and just one goal allowed on the season, scored three goals in the first half and two more after halftime.
Senior Lizzy Bender had a hand in four of her team’s five goals dishing out three assists while also scoring her eighth goal of the season.
Freshman Brooke Evans scored her team-leading 12th goal and had an assist, and senior Sofia Isaksson also had a goal – her 3rd of the season – while also adding an assist.
The Hornets will return to the pitch on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. as they host East Stroudsburg South.
