Soccer – Girls celebrate Senior Night with 5-0 win over Stroudsburg; Boys run consecutive shutout streak to 15 straight in 3-0 victory over Mounties

Emmaus 5, Stroudsburg 0 (Girls)

The Hornets celebrated Senior Night last night at home at Memorial Field with a 5-0 shutout win over Stroudsburg.

Four different players scored goals in the victory for Emmaus, which improved to 12-2-1 in the EPC and 13-2-1 overall.

Junior Kam McWhinney led the offense with her 11th and 12th goals of the season, while freshmen Sofia Isaksson and Lizzie Bender along with sophomore Emma Paradise also scored in the victory for the Hornets who posted their 11th shutout of the season.

Prior to the game, the team honored its eight seniors — Ashley Geder, Ananya Roy, Sammy Walkiewicz, Julia Adams, Vivienne Pinocci-Wrightsman, Ryleigh McNellis, Mya Cooper and Mackenzie Huffer.

Up next for Emmaus will be a non-league showdown on Saturday at 10 a.m. at unbeaten Central Dauphin from District 3.

Playing in their final regular-season road game of the season, the Hornets ran their incredible consecutive shutout streak to 15 straight games in last night’s 3-0 win at Stroudsburg.

Senior Ryan Kiernan had a pair goals – Nos. 15 and 16 on the season – while classmate Marcus Puentes added his 12th for head coach John Cari’s team, which remained unbeaten in the league at 14-0-1 and 14-1 overall.

In goal, senior Colin Wilson was outstanding making a number of incredible saves (four on the night), including a Stroudsburg penalty kick.

The Hornets will return home on Monday for Senior Night at 6:30 p.m. as they host Allen.
