Soccer – Walkiewicz scores only goal girls need in 3-0 win over PM East; Six different players score in boys 6-0 rout of Cardinals

At Memorial Field on Monday, Emmaus found itself in a scoreless game with upset-minded Pocono Mountain East with 11 minutes in regulation.

But that’s when the Hornets were finally able to find the back of the net as senior Sammy Walkiewicz scored her team-leading sixth goal of the season and freshman Lizzie Bender and senior Ashley Geder also added scores minutes later in the team’s 3-0 win.

The victory helped Emmaus to remain unbeaten in the EPC at 5-0-1 and their overall mark to 6-0-1. Junior Ashley Stine picked up the win in goal, her sixth shutout of the season.

The Hornets will return to action at 4 p.m. on Wednesday as they travel to Bethlehem Catholic.

At Pocono Mountain East on Tuesday night, Emmaus scored three goals in each half in the Hornets rout of the Cardinals.

Senior Ryan Kiernan got the scoring started in the first half with his team-leading seventh goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Canyon Reinhardt.

Juniors Callum Harvey and Bryson Moyer each scored their first goals of the year in the victory for Emmaus, which improved to 6-0 in the EPC and 6-1 overall.

The Hornets outshot the Cardinals 14-2 in the match and held a 4-2 advantage in corners.

Emmaus will be back in action at 6:30 p.m. tonight as they host Bethlehem Catholic.
