An early two-run deficit wasn’t too much for Emmaus to overcome on Wednesday afternoon playing at rival Parkland as the Hornets continued their winning ways with a 9-2 victory over the Trojans.
The win was the seventh straight for head coach Rich Giering’s team who improved to 8-2 overall and 5-2 in the EPC.
Emmaus banged out 13 hits in the game with each starter getting at least one hit. Seniors Molly Yard, Emma Kozy and Taylor Bruckler all had two hits, while sophomore Taylor Hauver had a three-run triple in the top of the fourth inning that gave Emmaus its first lead.
On the mound, senior Autum Held picked up the win with a complete game effort scattering four hits.
Emmaus had trailed 2-0 after three innings, but a three-run fourth gave the Hornets the lead for good and a six-run sixth inning put the game away.
Parkland suffered its first league loss the season (4-1) and dropped to 4-2 overall. The Trojans managed just four hits in the game.
The Hornets will return to action on Friday at 4 p.m. as they Pocono Mountain East (1-6).
