2/25/19

The psych sheets for the 2019 District XI AAA Swimming and Diving Championships have been announced and as expected, the Emmaus girls dominate the top seeds.

Head coach Tim O’Connor’s squad, which went undefeated and captured its second Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC) championship in the last three years, earned eight No.1 seeds in 11 of the events.

Senior Chelsea Gravereaux leads the way and is out to to defend her titles in both the 100 butterfly (56.48) and 100 freestyle (52.59).

Classmate Katie Champagne is also the top seed in the 100 backstroke and is looking for her second straight title, while freshmen Avery King (200 free/1:57.27) and Lauren Sharp (100 breast/1:08.63) are also seeded first in their respective events.

All three of Emmaus’ relay teams are also the top seeds.

Emmaus is looking for its first District XI Championship since the 2007-08 season. Rival Parkland has dominated the last century winning all 10 championships.

A year ago, the Hornets captured four individual gold medals and two more in relays. Last year’s championships were held at Emmaus due to a power outage at Parkland.

Action gets underway at 7 p.m. on Friday, March 1 at Parkland High School and continues on Saturday, March 2 at 2:30 p.m.
