Swim – Hornet boys make it 15 straight league titles after knocking off rival Parkland 114-72

RECAP — The Emmaus boys swim and diving team completed yet another undefeated season in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference (EPC) and in the process, won their 15th straight league title, after defeating rival Parkland 114-72 on Thursday afternoon in a duel held at Parkland High School.

Head coach Tim O’Connor’s team won eight of the 12 events as they finished a perfect 11-0 in the EPC and 11-2 overall.

Juniors Devin Metzger and Gio Germano each won a pair of individual races with Metzger taking top honors in the 50 free (22.25) and 100 free (49.70), while Germano finished in first place in both the 100 fly (53.97) and 100 backstroke (55.64). Germano was also part of the Hornets 200 and 400 medley relay teams that finished in first.

Sophomore Michael Iacobelli also was an individual winner in the 100 breaststroke (1:01.20) and part of the 200 medley relay.

In diving, junior Brendan McCourt continued his outstanding season finishing in first place with a score of 306.50

Up next for Emmaus will be the District XI Championships which get underway on March 1 and 2. The Hornets will be looking for their 12th straight district championship.
