XC – Campbell wins girls race, Petre boys as Hornets celebrate Senior Day with wins over Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South and North

The Emmaus girls’ and boys’ cross country teams celebrated Senior Day yesterday at Camp Olympic as both squads continued their outstanding seasons with wins over Stroudsburg, East Stroudsburg South and East Stroudsburg North.

The girls remained unbeaten as they improved to 12-0, while the boys are now 11-1 following their victories.

Head coach Kami Reinhard’s girls, ranked No.10 in the state, defeated Stroudsburg (15-48) and posted perfect scores against both East Stroudsburg North and South (15-50).

Emmaus had the top six placewinners as junior Payton Campbell finished first in a time of 20:10, just ahead of teammate sophomore Madelyn McCartney who finished second (20:11).

Senior Brooke Miller was third (20:34), followed by junior Addison Johnson (fourth, 20:44), senior Sophia Kovalski (fifth, 20:49) and junior Isabella Scarlatta (sixth, 21:24).

In the boys’ race, the Hornets defeated Stroudsburg (15-48), East Stroudsburg North (15-47) and East Stroudsburg South (15-50).

Emmaus had the top three finishers as junior Jared Petre was first to cross the finish line in a time of 17:40. Classmate Conor Fisher was second (17:43) followed by junior Richard Will in third (18:00). Sophomore Ryan Fach finished in sixth place (18:08) and senior Connor Miller seventh (18:13).

Prior to the meet, the team honored its 13 senior girls — Sara Adams, Dakota Devlin, Addison Kleinle, Sophia Kovalski, Brooke Miller, Makenzie Monfredi, Ashlyn Mugavero, Ava Rincon, Elizabeth Samer, Addison Shank, Caroline Shutts and Kayla Torretta; and 10 senior boys — Luke Dougherty, Tyler Finck, Nicholas Heffner, Jeuris Hernandez, Connor Miller, Zachary Rudoi, Alex Sands, Nathan Smeltz, Sam Strzempek and Jayden Zychal.

Emmaus will return to action on Tuesday, October 10 at 4 p.m. at Lehigh Parkway as they take on Parkland, Allen, Whitehall and Central Catholic.
