The Lower Macungie Legion baseball team did something this past week that they haven’t been able to do in years.
Beat both North and South Parkland in the same week.
They also picked a win over Salisbury, which capped off a perfect 3-0 week in the Lehigh Valley Legion League for head coach Jeff Smith’s squad.
In Saturday morning’s road win at defending champs North Parkland, starter Jaden Betz and reliever Robbie Barnes combined to limit the Buffaloes to just one run in as Lower Mac picked up a rare victory at Orefield Middle School. It was the second win over North Parkland this season for the Mighty Macs, who won the first meeting back on May 26, 7-3.
Barnes was outstanding in relief as he picked up the win, allowing no runs over five innings.
Aaron Fleetwood led the Lower Mac offense going 3-for-4 at the plate, while Barnes, Jackson Burton and Chase Simmons each had two hits.
Nate Unger, who wound up being the loser pitcher, drove in North Parkland’s only run in the bottom of the first on a RBI single. The Buffaloes dropped to 2-3 on the season.
Earlier in the week at Church Lane Park, Lower Mac trailed South Parkland 2-0 late before rallying for a dramatic 3-2 win in eight innings over the Trojans.
Simmons one out, bases loaded groundout in the bottom of the seventh inning brought home the winning run from third base.
Ryan Hummell picked up the win in relief of starter Cole Moreau, who pitched five strong innings.
On Monday at Church Lane Park, Barnes and Hummel combined to limit Salisbury to just one run in Lower Mac’s 3-1 victory.
