Boys Basketball – McCourt and the Hornets forget about past history vs Central Catholic, take care of business tonight at ‘The Hive’ as they roll to a 63-46 win over the Vikings.

Over the last five years, the rivalry between Emmaus and Central Catholic has been dominated by the Vikings.

In fact, only once in the last 11 meetings between the two since the 2019-20 season, have the Hornets come out on top.

None of that seemed to matter much to Teague McCourt and his Emmaus teammates tonight.

They forgot about past history and an earlier-season 46-40 loss to Vikings.

Playing infront of a standing-room only crowd with a boisterous student section as loud as they’ve been at “The Hive” all season, McCourt and Hornets exorcised some of their Central Catholic demons of the past as they put together one of their best efforts of the season in rolling to surprisingly easy 63-46 victory.

McCourt scored a game-high 15 points to lead a balanced scoring attack that featured nearly four players in double figures for head coach Steve Yoder’s team, who won their seventh straight game in improving to 12-2 in the EPC and 16-3 overall.

Senior Will Barber added 14 points in the win, classmate Jametric Harris had 11 and junior Jack Csensits eight. Junior Mike Rooney came off the bench and scored five points.

Emmaus had their best free-throw shooting night of the season connecting on 85 percent for the game (17 of 20), including 12-of-12 in the fourth quarter.

For Central Catholic (10-4 EPC/15-5 overall) junior Lucas Mushrush was the only player to reach double figures finishing with 11 points. Jahrel Vigo, the team’s leading scorer, was held to just eight.

Up next for Emmaus will be a date with arch-rival Parkland who will come to ‘The Hive’ on Friday night at 7 p.m. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network’s YouTube Channel with coverage beginning at 6:45 p.m. with the pregame show.
