Basketball – Boys team drains 13 3-pointers in 72-54 win over PM East; Girls clinch berth in districts with 62-36 road win over Cardinals

Emmaus 72, PM East 54 (Boys)

The Hornets connected on a season-high 13 3-pointers in rolling to their 72-54 home win over Pocono Mountain East on Monday.

Senior Jametric Harris drained five 3-pointers and led all scorers with a game-high 19 points for Emmaus, which won its sixth straight game in improving to 15-3 overall and 10-2 in the EPC.

Classmate Will Barber was next with 16 points, junior Jack Csensits scored a season-high 10 and fellow junior Rafael Terrero added eight off the bench.

For PM East, Taemas Jones was the only player in double figures finishing with a team-high 15 points.

Up next for Emmaus, will be a big showdown on Tuesday night at home at 7 p.m. as they host rival Central Catholic. The game can be heard LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network’s YouTube Channel.

Emmaus 62, PM East 36 (Girls)

Needing just one win in their last four games to clinch a berth in the post-season, Emmaus took care of business in Swiftwater on Monday night as they cruised to an easy 62-36 rout of the Cardinals.

Senior Gabby DeVita continued her recent hot scoring streak as she led the Hornets with a game-high 16 points. Over the last six games, DeVita is averaging a team-best 14.5 points per game. Freshman Kayla Snyder also reached double figures finishing with 11 points.

With the victory, Emmaus improves to 11-8 overall and will be headed to the District XI Class 6A Tournament. The Hornets are also hoping to reach the EPC Tournament as they are now 8-5, one-half game ahead of Stroudsburg (7-5) for the eighth and final spot.

Emmaus will be back in action on Tuesday at 7 p.m. with a key road game at Central Catholic. The Vikettes won the first meeting 50-40.
