RECAP >> Senior attackman Connor Flok scored a game-high four goals and sophomore Sam Rainford picked up his first career win in net as Emmaus opened its season Friday with an impressive 10-5 win at Memorial Field over Inter-Ac League foe Germantown Academy, the No.11 ranked team in the Phillylacrosse.com preseason poll.
The two-time defending District XI Class 3A champ Hornets were in a battle with the Patriots in the first half as the two battled to a 3-3 tie at the break, but the second half belonged to Emmaus as they outscored the visitors 7-2.
Sophomore Will Barber had two goals and an assist in the win for the Hornets, junior Aidan Garrett and senior Logan Mains each added a goal and an assist and freshman Kaleb Mains scored his first career varsity goal. Sophomore Liam Rooney also scored in the win. Rainford gave up just a pair of goals in the second half was credited with 11 saves in his first career varsity start.
Germantown Academy (1-1) was led in scoring by junior Rocco Ippoldo who scored a pair of goals.
The Hornets will return to action on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. as they host Nazareth in their Eastern Pennsylvania Conference opener.
