Boys Lacrosse – Hornets pull away late from North Penn to win fourth straight game 10-7; O’Connor leads offense with hat trick

RECAP >> Emmaus built a four-goal lead at the half (6-2) in its non-league game against visiting North Penn on Saturday afternoon at Memorial Field, then watched the lead shrink to a single goal at the end of the third quarter, before the Hornets eventually pulled away for a 10-7 victory.

Senior Bailey O’Connor led the offense for Emmaus with a hat trick, including his third goal of the day early in the fourth quarter as the Hornets outscored the Knights 3-1.

The win was the fourth straight for Emmaus which remains unbeaten on the season at 4-0. It was also the second consecutive year that the Hornets defeated the Knights from the Suburban One Conference (5-3 a year ago).

Junior Alex Adamczyk, coming off a career-best five goal performance against Nazareth on Thursday, added a pair of goals in the victory while senior Sam Conway added a goal and an assist.

Michael Leschinsky, a junior, got the scoring started with his eighth goal of the season, senior Evan Bhagat scored his sixth goal, while junior Elias Elcock and sophomore Zach Whalen also figured into the scoring with their first goals of the season.

In goal, sophomore Ben Franco picked up the win making 10 saves.

North Penn (1-3) was led by senior Lucas Yannul who had a hat trick.

Emmaus will return to league action next week with three games against EPC foes. First up will be a home contest at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Memorial Field against Freedom followed by a road games at Easton on Friday at 4 p.m. and an early 10 a.m. start on Saturday at Northampton.
