At Northwestern Lehigh on Monday, the Hornets bounced back from their first loss of the season to Wilson last Friday by defeating the Tigers in a non-league game.

Six different players figured into the scoring attack for head coach Roxann Betz’s squad, who defeated Northwestern a year ago in a much tighter 11-10 win.

Senior Rylie Poll, the team’s leading scorer, and sophomore Avery Aquino each recorded a hat trick and an assist in the win for the Hornets who improved to 4-1 on the season.

Sophomore Evelyn Gavin had a four point game (2g/2a), while seniors Taylor Younker and Sarah Gross also added a pair of goals. Senior Madison Lenig also had a big game with nine draw controls and three ground balls. In goal, junior Kate Rainford was credited with seven saves.

For Northwestern, which reached the District XI 2A final a year ago, freshman Madelyn Lagowy paced the offense with a hat trick and two assists. Another freshman, Caliana Colistra and junior Olivia Fagan each added two goals for the Tigers who dropped to 3-3 on the season.

Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. as they host Boyertown in another non-league game.
