Lacrosse – Barber notches 300th career point as boys roll to 11-1 win over Northwestern; McClain has 8-point effort in girls 16-4 rout of Tigers

Emmaus 11, Northwestern Lehigh 1

At New Tripoli, senior Will Barber registered his 300th career point and junior Kaleb Mains had his second four-goal outing of the season as the Hornets rolled over the defending District XI Class 2A champs 11-1.

Barber, who entered the game with 297 points, scored a hat trick in the first half, while Mains also scored three goals for Emmaus which improved to 5-1 on the season.

Senior Marcus Puentes added a pair of goals in the win and junior Jewlien Torres and senior Liam Rooney also scored goals. Defensively, Emmaus was outstanding allowing just one goal in the waning seconds behind its backline of seniors Erick Wentz, John Wassel and Zach Yenawine and the play in goal of senior Sam Rainford.

Emmaus will return to action at Noon on Saturday as they travel to Central Bucks East.

Emmaus 16, Northwestern Lehigh 4

At Memorial Field, seven different players scored goals in the Hornets 16-4 win over the Tigers.

Senior Bri McClain led the offense with an eight-point effort, tallying a season-high six goals to go along with two assists to lead Emmaus which evened its overall record at 3-3.

Another senior, Jordyn Poll, contributed her second four-goal outing of the season, while classmate Olivia Schmidt dished out a season-high four assists. In goal, senior Alani Shotwell (five saves) and junior Devin O’Neil (one) combined on six saves.

Emmaus will now prepare for a quick turnaround as they host Kennett at 10 a.m. in a non-league game on Saturday.
