At Stroudsburg on Wednesday afternoon, the Hornets picked up their fifth straight win as they went on the road and outlasted the Mounties.

Junior pitcher Mari Eiswerth tossed a complete game, scattering five hits while striking out eight and she also helped her own cause at the plate going 2-for-4 with a solo home run, her third of the season, in the third inning.

Senior first baseman Abby Derr also had two hits and senior center fielder Taylor Hauver also drove in a pair of runs, including a two-run homer in the sixth inning for Emmaus which remained unbeaten in the EPC at 7-0.

The Hornets jumped out to a 4-0 lead after four innings before Stroudsburg scored three unanswered runs to cut it to 4-3. Hauver then provided Emmaus a little insurance with her first home run of the season.

Stroudsburg pitcher Madelyn Vargas led the Mounties (5-2 EPC/5-3 overall) with a 2-for-4 effort at the plate. Vargas wound up with the loss in the circle allowing six runs on nine hits in going the distance.

There were a combined eight errors in the game with Emmaus committing five.

Emmaus will look to stay red hot on Friday at 4 p.m. as they travel to rival Parkland (3-4 EPC/3-5 overall).
