At Stroudsburg on Wednesday afternoon, Emmaus let a late two-run lead slip away as they were upset by the Mounties, 5-4 in nine innings.
The Hornets, who entered play unbeaten in the EPC, led 4-2 after five innings, but Stroudsburg scored a run in the sixth and one in the seventh to tie the game.
The Mounties then won it in bottom of the ninth inning as right fielder Matteo Maccarrone delivered a two out RBI single plating the winning run as Stroudsburg won for just the second time this season (2-6 overall/2-5 EPC). They also defeated Emmaus for the second consecutive season.
It was the first league loss of the season for the Hornets who dropped to 5-1 and 5-4 overall.
Robbie Barnes Chase Simmons and Drayce Schmidt all had two hits for the Hornets.
Stroudsburg was led by Ryan Pacitti who was 3-for-5. Damian Budhai, Will Fergusson, Jack Hiscott and Maccarone all had two hits for the Mounties who had 14 hits in the game.
Hiscott was the winning pitcher in relief tossing four scoreless innings. Starter George Binikos allowed four runs on seven hits in five innings.
Senior Jaden Betz suffered his first loss of the season in relief of starter and classmate Cole Moreau. Betz gave up two runs on six hits in three innings, while Moreau allowed three runs on eight hits in 5 2-3 innings.
The two teams combined for seven errors in the game.
Emmaus will return to action on Monday at 4 p.m. as they host Pocono Mountain East (5-2/6-3) at Church Lane Park.
