Thursday roundup – Calise Eiswerth pitches and hits softball to 16-0 rout of Becahi; Baseball gets upset by Golden Hawks 3-2

Emmaus 16, Becahi 0 (Softball)

At Bethlehem Catholic on Thursday afternoon, freshman pitcher Calise Eiswerth tossed a one-hitter and also hit her first career home run as Emmaus rolled to a mercy rule win over the Golden Hawks.

Eiswerth threw just 51 pitches in the three-inning game, walking one and striking out six. She also helped her own cause at the plate going 2-for-3 with a two-run homer and a career-high five RBI.

Junior Morgan Schwab also hit a solo home run in the game, while classmate Julia DeFanti also drove in a pair of runs for the Hornets who remained as the only unbeaten team in the EPC at 10-0.

Emmaus will return to action at 6:30 p.m. on Monday as they travel to Pates Park to take on Whitehall. The game will be carried LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network.

Becahi 3, Emmaus 2 (Baseball)

At Bethlehem Catholic on Thursday afternoon, Emmaus suffered its second loss of the week as the Hornets fell to a two-win Golden Hawks squad.

Emmaus got off to a good start in the game scoring a pair of runs in the first inning, but the Hornets couldn’t protect the lead as they watched Becahi rally with three unanswered runs.

The Golden Hawks loaded the bases in the bottom of the seventh inning with two out and Chris Sokaloski delivered the game winning single to left field.

Becahi outhit Emmaus 9-2 in the game. Louden Hower and Brayden Bleiler each went 2-for-3 for the Golden Hawks who improved to 3-8 in the EPC and 4-8 overall.

Chase Simmons had both hits in the game for Emmaus which fell to 6-3 in the EPC and 6-6 overall.

Emmaus will close out the week on Saturday at Noon as they travel to Hazleton for a non-league game.
