At Memorial Field on Tuesday night, Emmaus had their hands full with upset-minded Liberty, but the Hornets were able to escape with a 10-9 victory.

Senior Taylor Younker scored a game-high four goals, including the game-winner in the fourth quarter as Emmaus improved to 4-2 in the EPC and 7-3 overall.

Sophomore Avery Aquino added a hat trick in the win, while classmate Evelyn Gavin scored two goals. Senior Rylie Poll also added a goal to go along with a team-best three assists.

Emmaus jumped out to a 4-0 lead before Liberty scored four unanswered goals to tie the game at 4-4 in the second quarter. The Hornets would then score three straight goals to take a 7-4 advantage into the half.

In the third quarter, the Hurricane cut the deficit to one (7-6) outscoring Emmaus 2-0, but that would be as close as they would get as both teams scored three goals in the final quarter.

Liberty was led by junior Christina Bozakis who had a five-point game (three goals/two assists). Senior Ellis Corr added two goals and two assists and also recorded her 400th career draw control. Senior Julianna Zumas had a pair of goals and junior Lily Medaska dished out a team-high three assists. In goal, senior Erika Broesicke was busy making 15 saves.

One day earlier, the Hornets were coming off a 19-1 rout of District 2’s Delaware Valley. A season-high 10 players scored at least one goal in the victory led by Ally Kusko, Poll, Gross and Aquino who all scored a hat trick.

Emmaus will return to action on Saturday at 10 a.m. as they travel to Hazleton.
