Wrestle – Grapplers head to Becahi to compete in 51st Annual Tony Iasiello Christmas City Tournament Friday & Saturday.

The Emmaus wrestling team will compete in the 51st Annual Tony Iasiello Memorial Christmas City Wrestling Tournament at Bethlehem Catholic High School this week.


Head coach Thad Smith’s team will compete in the two-day event that gets underway on Friday, December 28 and wraps up on Saturday, December 29.


Teams from Anville-Cleona, Bald Eagle Area, Blair Academy (Second varsity team), East Stroudsburg South, Executive Education Academy, Faith Christian, First Colonial (Va), Lehighton, Dieruff, Port Jervis (NY), Roman Catholic, Schuylkill Valley, Scranton, Solehi, Susquehanna Township, Wallenpaupack and the host school, Becahi, will compete.


Weigh-in for both days will be from 8-9 a.m. There will be a one-pound weight allowance on Friday.


Session one on Friday will begin at 10 a.m. with pre-prelims, preliminaries, quarterfinals and three rounds of consolations. Session two on Saturday will also start at 10 a.m. with semifinals, fourth and fifth round consolations, third and fifth place consolations and the finals. There will be a 45-minute break to set up for the finals.


A year ago, Emmaus finished third in the team standings crowning seven medalists. Sophomore Kordell Waiters (pictured above) finished runner-up at 113, while senior Jackson Karrat (138), junior Caden Wright (160) both placed third. Senior Luigi Mannino (220) was sixth.


Admission is $10 for adults and $5 for students and senior citizens. Entry after 5 p.m. will be $5 for all.
