Wrestling – Hornets start New Year pinning their way to easy 61-12 rout of East Stroudsburg South

RECAP >> Competing for the first time in the New Year, Emmaus pinned its way to an easy victory as the Hornets went on the road and dominated East Stroudsburg South 61-12 Friday night in Eastern Pennsylvania Conference action.

Emmaus won 11 of the 14 bouts and got pins from eight different wrestlers as they improved to 3-1 in the EPC and 8-1 overall.

Freshman Marco Albanese (106), junior Gio Gainez (113), freshman Zach Madigan (120), junior Kordell Waiters (138), junior Nicholas Ruggiero (170), sophomore Jared Groller (182), junior Cody Lafaver (220) and senior James Santichen (285) all picked up pins for the Hornets.

Junior Connor Carter (182) saw his first action of the season and picked up an 11-2 major decision win over Tom Thorsen.

Senior Caden Wright (182) and freshman Evan Camire (126) both missed the match due to injury.

Emmaus will return to action on Wednesday, January 8 when they travel to Allen to face the Canaries at 7 p.m.
