Boys Volleyball – Boulrice leads Hornets to 3-1 win over previously unbeaten Freedom

The last of the unbeatens in the Eastern Pennsylvania Conference went down last night as Emmaus went on the road and knocked off previously unbeaten Freedom in a matchup of two state ranked teams.

Head coach Chris Miller’s team, ranked No. 10 in the PVCA poll, took down the No. 8 ranked Patriots in four sets 3-1 (25-22, 25-22, 20-25, 25-22).

Last night’s match was also a rematch of the District XI 3A championship from a year ago won by Emmaus in five sets (3-2).

Junior outside hitter Miles Boulrice led the Hornets offensive attack with 22 kills and drew praise from his head coach.

“Miles was the best player on the court yesterday,” said Miller the Hornets first year coach. “Not a single person could stop him from anywhere on the court. He gave us offense from the front and back rows. He was also an amazing server and defender. Just all-around our most valuable player.

“Also, I will say our middles did a great job following through with the defensive plan we created to stop their middles. Overall, it was just great execution from the whole team on a plan we practice a lot of.”

Senior right side hitter Bilaal Kerim also had a strong presence at the net with 18 kills. Classmate Ben Skekel had a great all-around game with 47 assists, 11 digs and six kills, fellow senior Greyson Answini had a team-high 12 digs and six kills and classmate Josiah Brown had 10 digs for Emmaus, which is now in a three-way tie for first at 10-1 along with both Freedom and Parkland.

Freedom was led by senior Ayden Willman who had a team-high 12 kills to go along with 15 digs. Junior Carter Richardson and senior Pano Hahalis each had nine kills, while junior Brayden Britland was busy dishing out 45 assists.

The Hornets will play their final home regular season match of the season on Wednesday at 6 p.m. as they host rival Parkland.
