At Williams Street Field on Tuesday afternoon, Emmaus had their hands full against upset-minded Pocono Mountain East.

The Hornets, who entered play as one of only two unbeatens in the EPC along with Northampton, trailed the visiting Cardinals by a run heading into their final at-bat.

And like they did last Friday in their rivalry matchup against Parkland, Emmaus once again had a flare for the dramatic as they rallied for the victory to remain now as the lone unbeaten in league play thanks to the K-Kids loss against Freedom.

Junior third baseman Morgan Schwab’s RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning plated pinch runner Marissa Gigliotti with the game-winning run as the Hornets defeated the Cardinals 4-3.

Trailing 3-2 with two out, Emmaus tied the game as junior pitcher Mari Eiswerth delivered an RBI double, and then one batter later, Schwab knocked in the game-winner as Emmaus improved to 9-0 in the EPC and 10-3 overall.

Eiswerth and center fielder Taylor Hauver both went 2-for-4 with an RBI for the Hornets.

In the circle, Eiswerth matched her season-high for strikeouts in a game finishing with 15 in the complete game effort. The hard-throwing righthander tossed a four-hitter and did not walk a batter.

PME was led by shortstop Karlie Jurasits who drove in three runs, including a two-run homer in the top of the sixth inning that gave her team a 3-2 lead. Third baseman Brianne Smith also had two hits in the game for the Cardinals, who dropped to 4-5 in the league and 5-6 overall.

Emmaus will return to action on Thursday at 4 p.m. as they travel to Becahi.
