The Emmaus boys tennis team celebrated Senior Day on Friday by wrapping up the home portion of their regular-season schedule with a 5-1 win over Nazareth.
The Hornets won two of the three singles matches and then swept all the doubles matches as they won their seventh straight match to improve to 13-1 in the EPC and 16-1 overall.
At No. 1 singles, junior Chris Stone remained undefeated on the season with a two-set sweep over Vansh Singnal 6-4, 6-0.
The best match of the day was at No. 3 singles as Emmaus senior Cole Stuchko won a 3-hour, 17-minute marathon over Chase Skutches 3-6, 7-6 (13-11) and 7-6 (8-6). Stuchko improved to 16-1 on the season with the win.
At No. 3 doubles, senior Joe Brisgone and junior Sai Uppiretla swept Rylan Aung and Geoffrey Skirles 6-2, 6-1, while senior Babacar Diop and junior Krishna Nemani also won in straight sets vs. Garrett Soldertich and Colton Kresge 6-1, 6-0
Special recognition was given to Emmaus’ three seniors — Stuchko, Brisgone and Diop.
The Hornets will close out their regular season on Monday as they travel to rival and unbeaten Parkland (14-0 EPC/17-0 overall).
The Eastern Pennsylvania Conference Tournament will be held later in the week on Thursday at 9 a.m. at Freedom High School.
