Baseball – Ohl and Williams combine on four-hit shutout in Hornets 10-0 mercy rule win over Whitehall

RECAP >> At Church Lane Park on Thursday afternoon, Emmaus played its third game in as many days and the Hornets came away with a 10-0 five inning, mercy-rule shutout win over Whitehall.

Using a seven-run third inning, Emmaus (7-2 EPC/7-6 overal) blew the game wide open and that was more then enough run support for starter Shane Ohl and reliever Josiah Williams who combined on the shutout, the third of the season for the Hornets.

Ohl improved to 3-1 going four strong innings and allowing just four hits before giving away to Williams who came on in the fifth.

Emmaus won despite getting only four hits off of three Whitehall pitchers. Williams helped his own cause at the plate with a game-high three RBI going 1-for-3 with a double.

Whitehall also managed just four hits in the game and the Zephyrs were hurt by eight walks issued and three errors. The Zephyrs dropped to 3-6 in the EPC and 4-6 overall after being shutout for the second consecutive game this week.

Emmaus will return to action on Monday at 4 p.m. as they host Northampton at Church Lane Park. The game will be aired LIVE on The Eastern Pa. Sports Network beginning at 3:45 p.m.
